Susan Irving - Therapist in North Shields, Gateshead and Online

About Me

I have been practising as a psychotherapist for 15 years, beginning part-time before transitioning to full-time practice as my commitment to this profession deepened.

My path to psychotherapy emerged during my university studies, where I was initially pursuing a different career direction. It was during this time that my tutor recognised my aptitude for counselling work through my academic writing and encouraged me to explore this field further.

This professional redirection coincided with a significant personal transition. Following events in my own life which led me to seek support, I experienced the transformative power of therapy first hand. This personal experience proved invaluable, providing both emotional support during a challenging period and profound insights into the therapeutic process.

These experiences led me to pursue formal education in the field, completing my initial degree before going on to complete my qualification in counselling, and later, in psychotherapy. What began as personal healing evolved into a professional vocation that has now spanned more than a decade and a half.

My approach to therapy is informed by both comprehensive professional training and personal understanding of life's difficulties. This combination allows me to work effectively with clients facing various challenges, including anxiety, relationship issues, grief, and personal development concerns.

Throughout my career, I have worked in diverse therapeutic settings, continuously expanding my skills and knowledge to better serve my clients' needs. My professional development is ongoing, ensuring that my practice remains current and effective.
